President Jimmy Carter is one of a few modern “Renaissance Men”. Most people are likely unaware he studied engineering at the Naval Academy and graduated in the top 10% of his class. He was an accomplished Naval submarine officer before leaving the service to successfully run his family’s farming business. His post-presidency activities with the Carter Center have been enormously impactful throughout the world and unprecedented for a former US president. In “A Full Life: Reflections at Ninety“, Carter describes his long life in detail and with humility, not shying away from his personal and political failures. I’m happy to better understand this great man.
